People on the Move in the Social Media Industry: May 11th, 2008

onthemove

I’m starting this post series (see archives) to recognize and congratulate folks who get promoted, move, or accept new exciting positions. Please help me congratulate the following folks:

  • Patricia Mayo has moved from being an editor at MasterNewMedia.org to a Social Media Strategist with NowSourcing, congrats! Her duties will include: handle their twittering, and do quite a bit of SMO blogging and SEO / PPC.
  • Vanina Delobelle (who I interviewed in a recent post) is the Product Director Social Media by Monster, she recently earned her PhD in Social Media.
  • Marina Martin is the the Community Evangelist for Elastic Lab, and is seeking out filmmakers of all levels to network for film projects.
  • Annie Heckenberger has moved on from being the Social Media Director for Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corp and joined ad agency Red Tettemer (, yep, that’s me on the homepage!) in mid-March. Her title is Community Trailblazer.
  • Laurie Buczek has recently moved into the role of Enterprise Social Media Program Manager at Intel. She moved from the external social media efforts into driving the strategy and implementation of social media internally.

I’m seeking folks that are related to full time hands on social media strategy and community managers, to be on this list, so let me know if you see these folks, and please submit them. Also, I probably will not include executive management changes on this list at social media companies, as the list would go on and on, but you can feel free to express yourself in the comments!

Well I’m on the move, from Mobalis (in Mexico) from my position of new media and social media manager to social computing director at NeoSocial Media (in México also) starting this friday. So Jeremiah anytime you want to come down to Mexico you are wellcomed here.

    5. I was just promoted to Executive Director of the Caring for China Center.

Before that I was volunteering part time. Taking a look at the site, I have my work cut out, but I am excited to be a part of this very important movement.

    6. Ricky Cadden and I are now a part of the S60 Online Marketing Team. More information here: http://blogs.s60.com/consumed/2008/03/update_on_the_help_wanted_entr.html

In a nutshell: S60 is the platform that runs on Nokia’s Nseries, Eseries and various devices. Applications such as QiK are S60 applications. We created something called the “S60 Ambassador Program” which is essentially people telling us about their word of mouth encounters with friends and family. The best story is collated every week, called “The Report of the Week” and that person gets one of the latest S60 devices to trial for 2 months. On the backend we also count how many reports everyone submits and at the end of a certain campaign, usually lasts a couple of months, the person who submits the most reports also gets one of the latest S60 devices and the runners up get accessories.

In the beginning there was a lot of controversy whether or not Nokia should hire bloggers who have been writing about them, but in the end everyone is realizing that Ricky and I have been a part of the community for a long time so the level of trust, friendliness and familiarity helped remarkably.

Our official titles are “Communications Specialists,” which sounds boring, but these past few months have been anything but.

    7. Congrats to Patricia, Vanina, Marina, Annie, and Laurie–
