• Respected technology commentator and friend of mine, Louis Gray joins Paladin Advisors Group as the Managing Director of New Media. Louis is one of the leading voices in technology, and a fine human being, congrats.
• Brian Ellefritz leaves Cisco and joins SAP as the Senior Director of Web 2.0 Marketing, I’ve worked with Brian on a handful of occasions and expect him to continue leading programs at technology corporations.
• Stephanie Fuerniss is Capella’s new Managing Editor for Online Communities at Capella University.
• Robert Stanke a new hire at Life Time Fitness Community Management & Social Media Strategist, in which he helps develop the growing community of Life Time Fitness members.
• Kim Snedaker is now the Social Media Manager AAA Mid-Atlantic, a financial services company.
• Angela Patterson joins Bridgestone Americas, Inc. as the Digital Media Coordinator, Corporate and Community Relations Dept. helping to rework the company’s social media strategy, and working across departments to implement it.

• Former Facebook platform marketing manager Josh Elman joins Twitter as the Product Manager. • Warren Sukernek leaves Radian 6 and was hired at Lift 9 as the Partner & VP of Strategies. Warren will be responsible for leading teams in providing actionable insights from the company’s socail media research and analytics solutions, find him at @warrenss
• Gwen Peake joins Ford Motor Company as the Digital Communications Manager Reporting to Scott Monty, and will coordinate digital communications & social media efforts for Ford. Find Gwen on twitter at @gwenj.
• Mike Osswald is promted at Hanson, Inc., a digital agency as VP, Experience Innovation Where he will focus on identifying future-forward, significant trends and technologies. His focus on, social technologies will allow co-workers and channel partners to engage in all facets of product and service design.
• Additionally, Lisa Wilberding also joins Hanson, Inc as the Midwest Social Engagement & Messaging Strategist where she will define, plan and execute long-term Social Engagement solutions for clients, as well as create messaging for web sites and interactive communications.
• Dan Kidd is hired at community platform vendor Neighborhood America as a Senior Director, CPG, Custom Research where he’ll be focused on Social Media Campaign Analytics.
• Last but not least, congrats to Augie Ray, who was hired at Forrester Research as an industry analyst covering Social Computing For Interactive Marketers. We wish him the best in this fantastic new role –congrats to the team! Find him at @augieray

• MySpace is finally filling its executive board after ushering out nearly the entire leadership team at troubled social network. They’ve recruited an experienced team to turn the ship around starting with Nada Stirratt has joined MySpace in the role of Chief Revenue Officer, Dustin Finer has come on board as MySpace’s Chief People Officer, Ali Partovi, former CEO of iLike, will serve as Senior Vice President of Business Development based in San Francisco, Hadi Partovi, former president of iLike, will serve as Senior Vice President of Technology based in Seattle. • Adam Nash, has been internally promoted at LinkedIn as the Vice President, Search & Platform Products at LinkedIn. We recently spoke, and he emphasized LinkedIn’s commitment to his space, hence crafting his role. I’ll be watching this area of opportunity closely, congrats Adam.
• Vanina Delobelle left Monster and is now working for Sears Holdings Corporation in Chicago. As I a manager of e-commerce Product Management, Vanina will build a social commerce solution.
• Microsoft gets serious about Social Computing and launches the Future Social Experiences (FUSE) Labs, a new group led by general manager Lili Cheng that will focus on software and services that are centered on social connectivity, real-time experiences, and rich media.
• Sheila Scarborough launches new social venture in her role with a focus on social and tourism, her blog captures her hard work, get some sleep already!
• James Whatley @whatleydude left his role as Head of Digital, Social Media for SpinVox at the end of August and has taken up a position as Director of Engagement Strategy at WOM Agency, 1000heads.
• Bob Bahramipour joins InXpo a virtual events company, as CMO to oversee all aspects of marketing, including advertising, brand awareness and product marketing, to further drive adoption for the company’s virtual solutions. This also includes social media and how to incorporate this further into our platform. I’ve met Bob in person, and recognize his talents, I expect to see good things spring from his fresh perspective.
• John Hegstrom is a new VP of Client Services also at InXpo a virtual events company. His goal is to ensure that customers successfully reach their target audiences, deliver their messages effectively, and build engaging and collaborative virtual environments.

• Simon Collister, formerly Head of Digital at Weber Shandwick >has joined We Are Social to head up public sector and not-for-profit work as an account director at social media shop, We Are Social. @simoncollister
• Passenger, what I call an ‘insight community vendor’ that fosters communities for brands that want to better understand their customers has named Michael Winner as SVP of Technology. He hails from Blink Logic as the CTO, and will spearhead product dev, QA and IT.
• Congrats to Christpher Lynch, who did excellent reporting at CIO.com with a strong focus on micoblogging and other web topics. His interest in the topic has landed him at SocialText, a company that provides social and enterprise here in Palo Alto. He’ll be involved with marketing and will utilize his skills and background from mainstream media, I’ll be watching for the launch of his new blog @cglynch
• MindTouch has filled it’s Community Manager/Customer Advocate Role. We are excited to have Katherine Smith (LinkedIn Profile) join from HL2. At HL2, she was Director of Marketing Strategy for Microsoft clients and created the social marketing strategy for SharePoint Social Computing.

• Michael Rubin joins Empower MediaMarketing of Cincinnati, OH as the Social Marketing Manager.
• Dan Thornton Joins Absolute Radio as the Digital Marketing Manager to further drive our successful community strategy and website.

Stepahnie Agresta joins Porter Novelli as the EVP and Global Director of Digital Strategy and Social Media. Big congrats, and glad she made her blog post about the topic ‘human‘. I’ve known her for a few years now, and am happy to congratulate such a warm, intelligent, and fantastic professional to such a key role. Wishing her the best.

This one is a shocker, Steve Bendt who lead some of the innovative social media efforts at retailer Best Buy has decided to join Microsoft, (Catholic guilt and all) his new title will be Social Media Marketing Manager on the Windows team. He’ll be starting in Redmond in early July and I’m sure they’re glad to have such an innovative professional.

The Super Rewards team is happy to announce that Julie Craft, has recently joined the team as the Vice President of Marketing and Publisher Relations.

I can’t say enough good things about Adam Singer, who is a talented electronica muscian (I’m a fan of his) has decided to TopRank as an Account Manager to serve clients. Congrats on Top Rank who hired a very creative professional that will take them to the next level. Adam be sure to keep up the music!

Ripple 6 makes two key hires with Paul DePinto assumes the position of Vice President of Sales East.and Mike Tracy was promoted to Vice President of Sales West.

Anthony Cerreta is the Lead Interactive Producer for matrixx. Their recent projects include campaigns for Johnsonville, Schlotzsky’s, and Dippin’ Dots Facebook Fan Page, find him on Twitter, and his blog.

InfoGroup hired Bryan Jennewein is now Director of Social Media, find him on LinkedIn too.

Jonathan Georger joined the PR Agency, Backbone Media, as Online Brand Manager. congrats

Gavin Baker has been appointed to Social Media Manager at Ruby Tuesday, Inc, he’s also on Twitter and says his role splits straight down the characteristics between strategist and community manager. (Sorry Gavin, I forgot to include in first update)

Jamie Beckland, who began at White Horse as a project manager in September 2008, has been promoted and has accepted the position of Emerging Media Specialist

David Armano leaves Critical Mass to join Dachis Corporation to focus on social business design. Congrats.

Dustin Johnson joins the Ant’s Eye View, a small consultancy that provides education and deployment for branded, online communities.

Sean McDonald, leaves Dell and joins Ant’s Eye View, a growing team.

Robert Scoble and Rocky Barbanica my former colleagues have now been reunited and are joining Rackspace. They will be building a community –and videos –for the small business and web companies.

Tara Hunt has now joined Intuit and will be leading the Marketing team for the Partner Network at Intuit. I’ve known Tara since she first moved here to the valley, she’s done so much so quickly, congrats!

Powen Shiah, since January as the U.S. Country Manager at the startup Jimdo, an online website creator based in Hamburg, Germany.

I haven’t published an “on the move in the social media space” in a while, in fact nearly 2 months. Why? Things really slowed down, and I received far less submissions, the recession is taking it’s toll.

Cece Salomon-Lee who has been blogging about her experience getting laid off and getting a new job is proud to announce that she’s the new Director of Marketing for InXpo, a virtual events company that helps organizations connect with their communities. I will be responsible for marketing which will include social media and public relations.

Robert Scoble of Fast Company has decided to ship off and sail at a new venture, which he hasn’t announced yet. I had dinner with him last night, and it’s interesting what he’ll be doing next –more news soon.

Holly Canter is quitting her full time job as a financial advisor and taking on clients as a full time blogger and writer-for-hire. She currently writes for nashvogue, biatchionline, slidemagnet. She’s married to Mitch, my designer.

Amber Lambke (@amber_rae) is heading out to SF from the windy city and Zocalo Group to lead marketing for Leverage Software. She makes the announcement on her blog, congrats.

Sri Vikas, joined as the Brand Manager at BODYFUELZ – produce and market sports and performance nutrition products based on amino nutrition.

Rick Mahn, will be joining Land O’Lakes in Minneapolis this month as their Social Media Strategist. He’ll be working to bring social media ideals inside the company in addition to building their online strategy in social media.

Dirk Shaw (He’s on Twitter) full time role as a Social Media Strategist for Vignette a few weeks ago, he’ll be focused on the use of “social networking applications to enhance customer communications, foster company-oriented dialogue and further Vignette’s presence in the online community”. He was recently interviewed by CMS wire

David B Thomas has started at the start of this year as the social media manager for SAS, the business analytics software company. He will be devoted full time to social media and primarily inward-focused on developing our strategy but also focused outwardly, helping departments at SAS use social media for outreach. Catch him on linkedin as well as twitter.

Chris Allison just got hired as a blogger for NeboWeb interactive marketing agency, and will be working on web projects on behalf of the agency.

Natalie Villalobos (Twitter) is now the Signtific Community Manager, before she was at Digg and Yahoo! as Assistant Community Manager. She has a B.A. in History from Sonoma State University which was completed abroad at the University of Hull in England.

Laura “Pistachio” Fitton moves closer with SHIFT communications in Boston. To be clear, she’s not working for SHIFT and this will be a symbiotic office sharing relationship. Here’s what SHIFT’s Todd Defren had to say.

David Lapter Appointed as CFO and Tom Gaffney to Lead Customer Success Division at KickApps, a Community Platform company.

Jesse Pickard promoted to Social Media Specialist at Razorfish at our New York office, Also, he co-wrote the Portable Social Graphs – Imagining their Potential deck with Shiv.

Bunchball, the creator of the consumer engagement and interaction platform “Nitro,” has announced the appointment of former Yahoo! Chief of Insights, Peter Daboll as CEO.

Visible Technologies hires Geoff Farris as senior vice president of sales. The Seattle-based company said Farris will lead its direct and indirect sales.

Natalie Lent is now the Director of Emerging Platforms at ID, and will helps ID’s clients with projects and programs using social and digital media.

Kris Hoet switches jobs within Microsoft and is now the Digital Media Communications Manager for all Windows Consumer brands – PC, mobile and online – as well as MSN and Live Search in EMEA.

MySpace Music to name Courtney Holt, a former MTV executive chief next week, this spells out a greater focus on media for MySpace rather than pure networking.

Dave Giusti joins Freepath in September as the myFreepath Community Manager. myFreepath is a network of people who exchange content (videos, audio, documents…you name it) through playlists created in Freepath.

David Gillespie is now a digital strategist currently in Melbourne, Australia but relocating early January to Toronto, Ontario! He writes Creative Is Not A Department which has been named one of the top 50 marketing blogs in Australia and also one of the top 15 business blogs. I’m already building up my net work on the ground there through Twitter but every little bit helps!

Aaron Strout leaves Mzinga and joins Powered to be head of marketing of this social commerce platform. Looking at their website, it sounds like I’ll be in constant contact with him as they have prominantly featured Jupiter and Forrester reports on their homepage.

Todd Vanhoosear has moved from the PR world to take a job as senior analyst and director of client services at SocialSphere Networks.

Dave Knox has officially started a new role at P&G as the Digital Brand Strategist is what I use externally, this is a pretty big move as I’m hearing that P&G is starting to do more and more with social media. Also, Dave has the coveted first place slot in our fantasy football league –but I’m just a few yards behind him.

Congrats to Samantha Skey who has joined passenger as senior vice president of business development and general manager of Passenger’s eastern region.

I C.K. Sample III is now the Social Media Evangelist for Crowd Fusion.

Lauren Fisch took the Community Manager position at Slide and is focused on growing SuperPoke!

Filiberto Selvas leaves Microsoft to join Avenue A Razorfish as Director of Strategy on Social Media (NW Region). As most know AA is part of Microsoft.

Jay Moonah (http://mediadriving.com/) was recently promoted to the position of Director of Strategy at the Toronto digital marketing agency 58Ninety Inc. His responsibilities in this position include the development of social media marketing strategy for clients such as Molson brewing, the CTV television and radio network and the Workopolis careers site.

I’m starting this post series (see archives) to recognize and congratulate folks who get promoted, move, or accept new exciting positions. Please help me congratulate the following folks:

Chris Kieff got his job using social media tools and tells all in this interview (audio). He’s now the Director of Marketing with Ripple6, congrats Chris, great story.

Dave Delaney (who has an interesting blog) is now a Social Media Coordinator, for Griffin Technology.

Susan Koutalakis, is now Mzinga’s Public Relations Manager, she emailed me about this change, and I called her up within a few minutes to introduce myself and offer her congrats, I know many of her colleagues, she’s in good company.

Clinton Schaff leaves M80 and now ships off to Houston to take on the role as Senior Director, Marketing & Communications, Mouth Watering Media LLC

Congrats to Nicole Vanderbilt to the newly-created position of Head of International Expansion at popular social network Bebo, where she will be responsible for driving Bebo’s business and membership in key international markets, focusing on France, Spain, Italy, Germany and the Netherlands. She previously worked as Google’s Head of Industry Marketing in Europe and India, responsible for building the b-to-b marketing and industry sales strategies.

This is a busy week, I’ve received more submissions than ever before, if this pace continues, I’ll have to figure out a new way to let folks self-submit. Be sure to include a link to your announcement, if it doesn’t exist on the web, it’s hard to verify, and it’s really what we’ve come to expect in this space. Lastly, while social media is certainly easy for folks to offer, I’m seeking examples of folks who really are offering this as their core expertise –not a side offering. Starting August 25th, James McNally became the Tucows/OpenSRS Community Specialist, a brand-new position for this internet services company based in Toronto.

Congrats to Kathy Jacobs who is now the Community Manager for AllVoices, a group focused on citizen media at its best

UpDown.com, the leading social platform for virtual investing, today announced that Joe Ranft has been named Vice President of Product.

Jesse Stay is making a move, but had yet to reveal the details of the specifics. I’ve met Jesse, and had a great time talking about Facebook at the FB Developers conference. One could only expect his move to be Facebook or widget/application related.
