This makes me very proud!

I am truly impressed and take great pride in being an American. It is too bad, President Elect Obama's hands are tied until January.

It's interesting to see how Obama leverage social media for his campaign. His charishma and attitude got magnified with the social media tools his campaign managers used. Do read this post that breaks down his entire mktg campaign.

Good idea for metrics. Everytime a major event happens these days the news will talk about number of viewers or ratings points for the event but as you said this is the YouTube generation/presidency so this will very much be as important of a statistic. I imagine that the graph will spike at first, flat line, then fluctuate based on world events. Sadly if things are going fine, then most people don't care to stay involved.

Absolutely awesome that they are doing this. It shows leadership and transparency. They have a lot on their plate to deal with and yet they are taking the time to record youtube videos!

If you know anything about the current administration or our government as a whole then you know that half of them have never watched a video on youtube. The other half consider it "childs play" and would never consider it a viable tool.

I think it also shows organization. One just can't film a message and send it out. There is even one from Valerie Jarret. This is just a well run business. Glad to have that coming into our government (even if they have no power till Jan).

It's a good start.

You have to communicate to people where they are. This beats radio in television in its convenience and accessibility.

I agree that it is not yet a conversation. I think Obama should combine this video medium with what Digg just did in the Digg dialogue with Al Gore. There, people posted questions, people voted on the questions so the most popular rose to the top. Those questions became the ones that Gore had to answer; a truly democratic agenda.

What we have here is an accessible executive summary. If this were followed up by answering the top 5 questions -- or something like that -- then we would be a solid step closer in availing ourselves of social media in e-government.
