Daily Basis: Twit, LJ, Fb, SMS, Google Reader (shared items counts right?), email, voicemail, phone, IM (AIM, Y!, gTalk, MSN, Rendezvour[within my house] - I use Trillian.), IRC (3 channels open at all times). I also use a web based live chat so clients can contact me directly.

Weekly (at least) Basis: MMS, MySpace, Virb, GoogleGroups (x4), Forums(x2), Virb, YouTube, & Flickr

I'm slowly adding GrandCentral in to all of this, too.

I am probably missing something. I would PAY for a way to consolidate this mess.

Jeremiah,

This is amazing. It clearly screams out for some innovation - some way to boil all of these 7, 12, 5 different modes into one. I wonder what a prediction would be? I'm hoping the final result will be just two or three modes. One consolidated text/computer based mode, and one audio/video mode (cell) and face to face.

What a cool question. I think I use six to eight a day if I include face to face, voip, cell, gtalk, fb, e-mail, linked in?

And with two three hour sleep blocks, does that work as well as one 7 hour block?

Thanks for being out there!

@aaron Sounds like a great research project for Forrester to take on. My methodology for this casual project is too flawed.

@yndy not sure, but I'll add you now.

Jim Turner and Vruz: what's the difference between Facebook and Meebo? Facebook has rich user profiles whereas Meebo does not. The quality of the platforms could greatly change how applications could be deployed.

Jeremiah -- the bigger question that I'd love to see you ask is which of these tools do members of your community MOST like to us. For instance, my two favorites right now are blog and Twitter with FB a close third. E-mail and IM are still the most useful but both are quite interuptive. I actually hate using the phone other than for conf. calls. I run hot and cold with texting (I save that channel mostly for my wife).

I saw this, but was too busy to respond at the time. But I would say that on a daily basis, I use: telephone, email (at least three different emails that I check daily, about six others that I check weekly), Facebook, Twitter, blog, podcast (I have three), MySpace pages (I have four), Podshow pages (I have four). That doesn't even count the various forums that I engage in, which are usually three or four, and Second Life, which I usually only do on weekends now. But yes, it is amazing how quickly one gets responses to questions now!

Very interesting and useful. As a leadership development consultant I am very interested in how people use the various channels of communication available to them today. The study of leadership and the design of programs have not really come to grips with the rapid changes in how we interact and communicate. It's an exciting time with lots of opportunity.

BTW - land line, cell, gMail, live.mail, FB, Ning, twitter (snitter and phone), Pownce, blog = 11

what if all comunnications were to be integrated as they've just showed in the new Meebo apps platform ?

Meebo knows how you classify people in folders, Meebo knows who you talk to more often and what you talk about.

This is a Social Graph + Communication Apps.
We're getting closer to the next thing

I never considered my self a pebbles, more of a bam bam. Great post Jeremiah, and I too get lots of feedback from Twitter. I think your question about Meebo is also relevant here in that they are making their application or should I say platform better by partnering with these other companies. I would like to see our other forms of communication also begin making things better instead of innovating the mediocre.
