Common Craft gets brand-jacked by Kommon Kraft

Scott, who was at the dinner last night, has embedded the following videos on his blog.

I’m a fan of what Lee and folks have been doing, have you seen their easy to watch videos? I’ve put them all on one page, watch these first.

The following clever Kommon Kraft videos brand jack the good folks at Common Craft, don’t you hate that? I sure do, and will tell everyone on my blog, twitter, flickr, and on my second life island.

Above Video: New Media Douchebag (Don’t you hate that? I sure do)

Above Video: Technology in Plain South Carolina English, which if you’re not familiar with, they’re making fun of Miss South Carolina.

Funny stuff, gave me a chuckle.

Kommon Kraft gets it. Glad to see them getting more attention…

That’s why this morning when I posted to Twitter: “Off to the races - lots of socnet phoning today. Peace out!” I received this response from @Critt (Jarvis): “Am I reading this right…”socnet phoning”? Too cool! … Peace on :-)”

Yes. My in-the-flesh and phoning “socnets” are *still* the most valuable ways of communicating.

    Peace out, Jeremiah.

They say that parody is the highest form of flattery. Kommon Kraft = the ‘Weird Al’ of social media video?

Great meeting you last night, Jeremiah. And I’m happy to be able to share a humorous point way to step back to reflect on and analyze what it is that we do and how we bring value.

Hi Jeremiah. We’ve known about these videos for a while and talked to Kelly (their creator) a few times. I suppose it’s the sincerest form of flattery but it’s unfortunate that he chose to use the Common Craft name, even with K’s. I hadn’t heard the term brand-jacking, but it’s a good one in this case.

Thanks for responding, this IS a form of flattery, and although it may initially stings your passion, you have to remember that it’s an indicator of the success of your videos.

Same thing goes to the Apple videos, those are being brand jacked too, which indicates these videos were also very effective.

Just about every great brand has a parody, it’s why I don’t take being on Valleywag as being a big deal.

The term brandjacking has been around for at least a year, I first heard it when applied to some consumer created anti-starbucks commercials on YouTube.

Having made my own, gentler satire of Lee and Sachi’s videos, I can relate. These are reasonably amusing, but there does seem to be an underlying hint of something nefarious. Venomous jealousy of Common Craft, maybe?

The majority of the douchebags are financial bloggers.

BTW, did that narrator’s voice sound like the guy from SNL’s Mr. Bill clips?

Maybe I am just brain dead from too much Yahoo/Microsoft stuff.
