Hong Kong Blogger Dinner to be hosted by OutBlaze
(Left, on my fourth trip to HK, I took this photo of Hong Kong Harbor)
A few weeks ago, I suggested to the HK community that we organize a community blogger dinner, it will be held exactly one week from today. I’ll be out there next week at a conference, and it’s also a sort of mini-vacation before I start my next gig.
The list (where you can sign up) has grown to over 40 individuals, who’ve all signed up on the wiki. Thanks to Outblaze (a white label hosted messaging solutions) the host and sponsor, I’d like to quickly recognize them, in thanks for being stewards to the community.
Angus Lau is one of the organizers of the event, and I was glad to meet him this last week at the Office 2.0 conference in SF, in fact, I did a quick video interview with him. Just a sidekick has also mentioned the event, thanks!
Here’s the details of the event:
When: Tuesday, September 18th, 2007 , 19:00 ish
Where: Prive The Centrium, 60 Wyndham Street, Central Hong Kong. Food and drinks will be provided.
Agenda: This is a community event, which is primarily networking, exchanging of ideas, and meeting folks of similar interests. For companies that sponsor the dinner or host, they have the opportunity to provide an opt-in demo. The focus of the event? Community.
For those that are attending, I’m interested in meeting Hong Kong web professionals that are involved with social media, or web 2.0 software, meet me there, and I’ll be available the next few days for meetings and introductions.
I’m a big proponent of community type events, and even have some suggestions for your company, if you want to have a successful community event.
If you want to see other photos of HK, I’ve created a set in flickr, it’s a magnificent city.
I’ll be doing a lot of travel for the rest of the year, I’ll be in HK (I’ll be meeting the band INXS who was popular in the 80s, who’s playing at the conference), then Vancouver, speaking at VidFest, then off to Boston to start new hire training at Forrester, I plan to arrange a blogger dinner in Boston in early Oct. I’ll be going to Chicago for Forrester’s Consumer conference (Find out who’s going), a similar event in Barcelona in Nov, and then keynoting a Facebook conference in Dec.

Good stuff Jeremiah!
I think this is going to be good for the HK web community. Shed a little light on what’s going on in the states, how social media impact enterprises, social media in general and other web goodness.
The video turned out alright, was fun, let’s do more!
Make sure you have a vegetable at dinner!
Beantown in October? Can you squeeze some social media events in on the tails of your Forrester training? Around Pop!Tech timeframe in Maine? http://www.poptech.com/conferences/
Also, the Woodstock Film Festival http://www.woodstockfilmfestival.com
