I haven't heard or seen anything about Habbo Hotel in years. The last time I heard anything about this was when I was a young punk who thought it was hilarious to troll the site and harass other users.

At the time, I thought it was fun. Looking back, it was actually fairly cruel.

Do you see Habbo as a growing community? Since I hadn't heard much about it in a number of years, I sort of assumed that it had mostly died off, other than a core group of dedicated fans.

I have been heading digital strategy within Isobar Finland for the past year or so now! HH was born in Finland in 2000 & has since grown into prodominantly most respective countries globally. We collaborate with Habbo Hotel for client campaigns frequently when the Target group is between the age of 10-18yrs! Sulake recently acquired IRC Galleria, which is Finlands leading social network so should be an interesting space to watch in the future! In addition to this we have Habbo TV also!

A weekly half hour segment includes interaction between the HH platform and TV show with celebreties ON AIR & rooms in the platform where characters can ask questions to the hosts on air...

We have done lots of stuff on this so if anybody has any questions or would like to see any further presentations please send me an email!

Cheers,

HH is cool and all but I don't like constricted to one building, that's why I have found myself spending more time at http://www.citypixel.com recently.

It's indeed an interesting development. Research from Gartner forecasts that in 2010 the virtual world market will worth 1 billion dollar. That sounds like a nice business area to me. A good preparation for this wave is to better understand the behavior of people in 3d worlds. At Philips Design we are currently running a pilot to analyse the behavior of people in SL. We are also developing a 3d co-creation environment in Second Life. This environment could eventually enable Phiips Design to co-create products togehter with out-side specialists around the world. By the way, it is not so much SL where the interest of Philips lies, it's the emerging virtual worlds phenonomen as a whole.

I listened to Sampo Karjalainen who heads up Habbo at LIFT07 earlier this year. There are 7.5 million users, yet little is known of it here in North America. For more of my notes, refer here. http://tinyurl.com/2s55zk
