SXSW: The “Irrelvant Corporate Website” and “No Marketing” Needs your vote!
(Left: SXSW Awards ceremony was cause for great celebration)
I need your help!
1) Panel Submission: How to Evolve Your Irrelevant Corporate Website
I suggested to Kit Seeborg that for our SXSW panel in 2008 that we explore how to Evolve the Irrelevant Corporate Website –this time not hiding behind a blog, but out in person in front of real people. A bold and irreverent statement that’s bound to piss off corporate web marketers, I think it’s an important topic to be discussed.
Please, for me, and for the future generations of Web Strategists, go to the SXSW Panel picker and kindly vote for ” How to Evolve Your Irrelevant Corporate Website” to be one of the panels to present. As you know, SXSW is a democratic conference, where voting determines which topics and speakers are to present.
Who’s going to be on the panel?
Kit Seeborg
Shel Israel
Tara Hunt
Jeremiah Owyang
If this topic interests you, please vote for it on the SXSW site, but quite seriously, if you don’t think it’s a great topic, don’t vote for it (be true to your own interests) and leave a comment below what you think would be better.
2) Panel Submission: Self Replicating Awesomeness: The Marketing of No Marketing
Brian Oberkirch wants to expand his famous “edgworks” brand to the stage at SXSW, he’s asked me to join the fray. We’re going to focus in on ” Self Replicating Awesomeness: The Marketing of No Marketing”. Un-Marketing is the term I like, or Anti-Marketing Marketing. If this topic interests you, vote for it on the SXSW site –but only vote if it’s something that you would want to attend, chances are, I’ll be ustreaming it for you.
Who’s going to be on that panel?
Brian Oberkirch
David Parmet
Deb Schultz
Jeremiah Owyang
Seriously though, I don’t want this to be a popularity game, so give it a zing if you think the topic would help you as a Web Strategist.

I didn’t know what the heck a social media was until I saw Jeremiah Owyang and Brian Oberkirch on stage together (coincidentally enough in a panel moderated by Kit). These look like two awesome panels.
What works so well about Brian and Jeremiah together is how they contrast each other. They obviously are into the same stuff. But Jeremiah has the experience with big corporations (past at Hitachi, works for big clients with Podtech now) while Brian … is totally the “small good thing” renegade. Sometimes it feels like Brian runs in first and kicks up all the dust and then Jeremiah writes about how those great ideas can translate to actual results and ROI that will make the business world pay attention.
Brian is the visionary. Jeremiah is the strategist. It’s an awesome combination.
Vote for these panels!
We’re looking foward to filling the room with un-corporate troublemakers.
Thanks Adam, you rock man! Good Analysis. I agree, we’re different, but often come out at the same place!
I choose YOU!
Thanks Ian!
heck i choose you..er me..too. BTW - both topics SO near and dear to my heart as you well know.
I wrangled my way onto the Marketing of No Marketing panel with y’all - after I read your post I couldn’t resist. I think this is the topic of the year ahead for me, moving around it with Intention Matters, The Zen of Pitching without Selling and even my work on Participation is Marketing (which is seemingly being talked about everywhere these days)
I hope we get picked, because this is the crew to explore this very important issue. As I say in the comments over on the panel picker - It is kind of like “The End of Marketing”, but in reality is merely a new beginning…
I am looking forward to this panel - not only because I’m on it but all of us hold such varied opinions on the topic. It’s going to be a good one.
