Jeremiah Owyang discusses how web tools and social media enable companies to connect with customers

Falling behind on personal email, patience requested

I’m really sorry, but to let you know, I’m falling behind on my personal email. I guess this is partly my doing, as I make my email address public on this blog. It’s a great problem to have, don’t get me wrong, but a tad overwhelming, as each weekday, a lot of requests to interview companies, or requesting information, or introductions from PR firms. In fact my Yahoo mail has 2,026 unread emails.

I’m a big believer in paying yourself first
(that’s why I get up extra early to blog at 3-4am), work email comes second, followed by personal email.

The most time consuming aspect is trying to schedule meetings or calls, it’s very hard as my calendar is getting booked farther and farther in advance, and getting things on the schedule with folks that are coming in from out of town is a challenge. I’ve even missed three appointments in the last two months, which I feel horrible about. I never used to do that.

I promise to read them all, but I can’t respond to them all, so I hope you understand.

Important: if you see me cover a company or an industry, and want to stay relevant, leave a thoughtful and human comment that adds to the conversation, and feel free to tell folks that if they want to learn more they can go to your site, and about your company. I’m very cool with that. (In fact, I do it all the time)

I really do care about communicating back to you all, community is very important to me, so please be patient, thanks so much!

Your personal attn on your blog is amazing. (…and I’m sure that people won’t mind if you sleep once in awhile too)

I sleep, but it’s a strange pattern. I sleep in 3-4 hour bursts, new ideas come and then I share them via this blog, or implement them at work.
