Jeremiah Owyang discusses how web tools and social media enable companies to connect with customers

Web Strategy Session with SAP

I really enjoy helping our clients at PodTech, that’s really my main role as Director of Corporate Media Strategy. One example is customer Mike Prosceno who runs the New Media Relations program at SAP, came by our office last week with Giovanni to sit and talk with me for over an hour an a half. We chalked out some plans, I shared with him what I know is happening in the Corporate Social Media space and gave him quite a few things to think about.

Here’s what Mike had to say:

“Then it was off to Podtech for lunch to discuss a project that I want to work on. Giovanni thought that Jeremiah would be just the one to talk to. Boy was he right, I outlined for Jeremiah what I was thinking and he visualized it almost immediately. I won’t go into detail about what it is here – but once I get it closer to reality I promise that you’ll read about it here first!”

The respect should go to Mike, who impressed me with his understanding and energy to go improve how communications are done, you should really keep an eye on SAP in the future, with people like Mike around, things are going to open up for the better. Here’s a podcast interview with Mike, he’s a sharp guy.

Sometimes folks wonder why I give away so much of my information away (speaking, on this blog, or in person) I really truly believe that if I do, I’ll build trust, be the first source they come to, and they’ll tell me new things, furthering my knowledge. So far it’s working, and I’m really happy to be a resource to corporations, in fact, in many ways, it generates many opportunities for the company–even if I think that most of their websites are irrelevant.

I also provide Web Strategy counseling to all the startups that I advise, recently, I helped map out a pain > benefit > feature map for some friends, I hope it helped.

By the way, I noticed a massive advertising battle between SAP and Oracle at the Hong Kong airport, every 10 steps was an SAP ad, the next 10 steps was an Oracle ad, interesting.

Sitting down with Jeremiah is always a productive experience. He can take very complex problems and quickly root out the heart of the issue. Thanks for all your help last week!
