Eric Peterson Goes Solo (Another Web Analytics Guru sails his own ship)

I was fortunate to video interview Eric last week in Portland for the Web Strategy Show, keep an eye out for this video in the near future. Eric’s speaking as the keynote speaker at the eMetrics Summit in SF, he provided industry stats based upon a survey he’s deployed –a true state of the industry.

Peterson is known for being a true community evangelist, he’s setup user groups using Yahoo Groups, founded Web Analytics Wednesdays’ and is even an accomplished author. In addition to being an industry leader in the Web Analytics space he made an making an announcement about the future of his employment and provided me this exclusive:

“In my “Web Analytics Guru” presentation to the entire conference I will be announcing that I have left my position as Vice President, Strategic Services at Visual Sciences to form my own strategic consulting group, Web Analytics Demystified, Inc. At Web Analytics Demystified I will be providing consulting, conducting and publishing industry research, and continuing to provide the same high-quality web analytics education I have for years through my books Web Analytics Demystified, Web Site Measurement Hacks, and The Big Book of Key Performance Indicators and my weblog at www.webanalyticsdemystified.com.”

Recently, Avinash (one of the keynote speakers) left Intuit to join Google Analytics as a contractor and active Evangelist. With many of the top minds in the analytics industry going solo now, this is a direct indicator of the market turning up the heat and need for measurement in the growing web industry. Wishing you luck Eric on your latest venture.
