SimplyGrowth at SimplyHired

Categories: Web IndustryPosted on December 5th, 2006

SimplyHired is advancing it’s exposure to the NYPost and allowing the MySpace generation to upload resumes writes Venture Beat.

“…it will power the online job search of the nation’s fifth largest newspaper, the New York Post. It will also introduce “Resume Post” on MySpace. This lets job seekers at MySpace also post their resume to six different job boards at once, including Monster, CareerBuilder, Job.com, GettingHired, Net-Temps and Beyond.com…”

This smart move positions both the hiring audience and the growing workforce in two strategic web positions. SimplyHired is a vertical search engine that aggregates all job listings from many of the job banks into one easy to find locations.

My hope is that tools like this and other social software will help provide bury the cold resume and cold interview, as users will have a wider pool to drill down and find the right job.

Let’s keep on connecting people. Need a new job? Try SimplyHired. (oh, and they’re hiring)

  1. Jeremiah -

    Great post about SH.

Let’s examine your third paragraph. It reads, “My hope is that tools like this and other social software will help provide bury to the cold resume and cold interview, as users will have a wider pool to drill down and find the right job”.

Aggregating content from disparate Web properties is no longer a technical leap forward. Aggregators can be found crawling around most vertical market silos. The holy grail for search engines - those that are genuinely interested in the user experience - is the ability to consistently return exceedingly relevant search results (job postings).

Recent advances in job search engine technology, such as the methodologies introduced by Bob Wilson (http://rmwilsonconsulting.typepad.com/) and Just-Posted.com (http://www.Just-Posted.com), stand ready to significantly enhance job seekers, employers and career resource services providers job market visibility and potency.

Thanks, I’ve not checked out those ones either (haven’t had the hard need to search for a new job).

I hope someone from simplyhired comes over there and talks about some of their relevance engines.

  3. Thanks for sharing this news with your readers, Jeremiah. Like you, I’m a big believer in the potential for social networking tools to help us move beyond the cold resume/interview. We’ve been interviewing a fair number of candidates recently at Simply Hired, and I’m always struck at just how much better the experience is for both candidates and talent seekers when there are connections between the two. Putting technology to work to shift a greater percentage of interviews from “cold” to “warm” represents one of the single most important things those of us in the online employment space can do to improve the job search experience.
