There’s a few websites I can’t access in China, such as as Technorati, several blogs such as Scoble’s, and all Blogspot/blogger blogs. Interesting to see what is visible and what is not.
Note: For those of you new to blogging, the reason I say I’m blind is that Technorati tells me who’s linking to me and who’s talking about me or back to me, it’s very important to know as blogging a conversation. Robert Scoble is a friend of mine, I refer and read his site frequently, and I use blogger to publish several blogs.

Very interesting to follow your trip back to your roots in China. Beautiful pictures! You say: “all blogspot blogs”. I’m using Blogger but FTP to my own domain, so I’m curious if you can reach my blog in China: http://www.trendmatcher.nl
Would be great to know, although not many Chinese will speak Dutch…
Have a nice time, and I hope that after being blind you’ll see the light again:-)

Just curious … can you get rss feeds from likes of Scoble, and how about feedburner feeds?

Yeah my monkeynotions blog was blocked =( (I don’t think I say anything THAT excitng =) ). I remember I was able to go to Techcrunch, and I think I was able to get Scoble’s blog via bloglines…as there wasn’t any blog i could not get. Glad you are enjoying your trip =)

What error message do you get?
Posted by Bess on November 4th, 2006 at 8:27 pm
It’s the typical 404 page.

Jeremiah - can you get Scoble’s blog using the new http://scobleizer.com/ uri?
Posted by Tom Raftery on November 5th, 2006 at 3:37 am
Nope, that doesn’t work either.

Sometimes 404 page can tell you more detail on type of error. Did you turn on the browser option to show the error message detail? Can you capture a screen shot on error message?

So strange. You are not the only one can’t access his blog at http://scobleizer.com/. Me too! And I am in US. What is going on? I even try to access his blog via search engine instead of book mark.
Posted by Bess on November 5th, 2006 at 2:32 pm
Now his site is back on.

Jeremiah - dunno why I didn’t think of this sooner - I’m going to share my Scobleizer feed with you from my Google Reader account - that should let you read his posts.
Here’s the Shared posts:

[...] Jeremiah Owyang is on a trip to China at the moment. He put up a post on his blog the other day saying he couldn’t access Robert Scoble’s blog from inside China - it seems to be blocked by the Great Firewall of China for some reason. I don’t know if this applies to all WordPress.com accounts or just Robert’s. [...]

Thanks everyone for the thoughts and Tom for your login info to your reader.
I’m currently in Hong Kong (Which is not part of Mainland China but a seperate, special region) and I can see Scoble’s blog and blogger blogs just fine.
