Jeremiah Owyang discusses how web tools and social media enable companies to connect with customers

Regaining Technorati

Blog Milestone today, and this is a very un-important post.

In June I transferred from my blogspot domain to this one at web-strategist.com. Today, both of the blogs met half way and share the same Technorati ranking.

When I left my blogspot address my rank was around 4k, it took almost a year to do.

This week, I just hit the 9k range on web-strategist, it took just under 5 months to achieve, a whole lot faster.

Today, my old blog met my new blog.

I suspect that it’s easier to regain your Technorati standing as it’s ranked by unique blogs that link to you. Since I’d already built a network and reputation, re-obtaining these links was pretty easy to do. Secondly, I’ve learned a bit about blogging, so it’s a medium I’ve gotten familiar with.

Lastly, there’s a ton of spam blogs that just replicate content and echo ‘real’ blogs…bastards.

Anyways, I don’t blog just for a low Technorati ranking, but today certainly is a milestone.

(Also, last week was a record in traffic for all time, Digg Party, Dreamhost, and older Social Media Optimization and other topics really gained quite a bit of traffic)

  1. […] I just got done talking about my Technorati rank, and I started to think about all the splogs that link to blogs that artificially pump up the numbers. […]
