Interesting Conversations at the Future of Web Apps
Often the best conversations never occur on stage, but really in between sessions when people are hanging out or going to lunch. Here’s a few interesting topics and events:
- Star Wars tour by Niall was a hit.
- Lunch with Kevin Burton, Joel Sacks, Kristie Wells and Chris Salazar.
- Dave is a self described ‘McGuyver’ who works for Slingbox and was able to stream in TV shows/webcams (With sound) of his front yard on his Treo (see pic)
- People were quietly talking about the lack of diversity at the conference speakers and in attendees, myself included, and even conference organizers. Chris Messina took a public stance in his post. I think his approach was fair and balanced, and he really raises some issues that many are afraid to speak up about. (Edit: One conversation with a female I suggested that if we don’t start inviting more females to attend the conference then we’ll the geek community will NEVER reproduce, and all will be lost in 50 years)
- I met many cool folks, such as Vassil from Blogtronix,(secure enterprise wikis and blogs),
- I’m hoping to get your feedback on the “Future of Online Storage” post I wrote a few days ago.
