Two Week Sanction Appropriate for New Corporate Blogs
Categories: Feedback, Social MediaPosted on July 11th, 2006Dell launched their corporate blog, and have been getting a less than warm reception from the blogosphere.
I agree with Scoble, cut new corporate blogs some slack for at least two weeks before you give some criticisms.
“I think we should institute a two-week moratorium against saying anything bad about a new corporate blog.” -Scoble
I know follks are angry, annoyed, and unsatistifed, (or just really pissed) but give them some credit, their reaching out, the blogosphere will self correct them, give them so breathing room to stand up and just take a few steps.
Why am I so sympathetic, I guess because I’ve been through the same thing at my company launching corporate blogs –we got criticized too, but we listened and learned.
Seriously, let them get a new program up and running, then work in a collaborative method to improve their products, service, and support.
No kitties were harmed in this blog post.

I’ve never understood why bloggers eat their young. It’s mean-spirited and self-aggrandizing to make snarky comments about other blogs, new or not. Unfortunately it seems to be the recurring theme among too many bloggers. Why is it that vocal bloggers don’t rejoice when new blogs form? It’s about time for the negative bloggers to get their heads out of their navels and look at the broader world of which blogging is just a part.
Thanks. I feel better now.

I couldn’t agree more. Sheesh give the guys a chance.
This is an effort (or maybe an opportunity) by Dell to apologize, and maybe fix things. The Dell haters could perhaps lead and help this.
It’s still spiraling out of control.

I completely agree. Give Dell some points for starting the blog and give them a couple of weeks to get their footing. It’s really disappointing to see the high-profile bloggers ripping into them. It’s no wonder most large companies are reluctant to start a blog.

My Own CTO, Hu Yoshida at HDS has welcomed Dell.

If you’ve ever met him in real life –he’s truely a very gracious individual.

Corporate Blog Review: Dell One2One Blog…
This corporate blog review has three parts: my conclusion, which I’ll put first for the impatient readers, and then a quick synopsis of the buzz about the Dell one2one blog and my nitty-gritty review. Conclusion: On a 0-10 scale, I give……
